As many NCIS: Los Angeles fans likely know at this point, Eric Christian Olsen is not going anywhere. The status of his character Deeks was left up in the air after the events of the season 9 finale, and for a good while, the actor had a little bit of fun on that subject on social media. His go-to comment? That Deeks was dead.
However, recently the series confirmed that the character was still alive, largely through reports that the Deeks – Kensi wedding would be happening later this season. They clearly are going to have some stuff to work through after some of what Deeks said in the finale, but at least he will be around for them to work on their issues.

So, even though the news about his fate is clearly out there, Olsen is still having a little bit of fun on the subject. In a post on Instagram below this week, Olsen joked that he is still pretending as though Deeks is dead for the time being. We wonder if he or the cast are disappointed on some level that the result of the cliffhanger has been spoiled, but the result here was that it was going to be impossible for them to keep it a secret forever. Heck, at the time of the Densi wedding reports the news was already spoiled thanks to some photos and video that were taken of the cast out on location. Maybe it would’ve been easier to keep the cliffhanger result a secret if most of NCIS: Los Angeles was filmed at a studio. However, this is a show that sends its agents out into the field and people are around to see what’s happening.
Ultimately, we’re just happy Deeks isn’t dead — he’s one of the show’s best characters and a source of a number of fantastic moments. You’ll get a chance to see him again Sunday nights this fall on CBS.
